Fall tends to be a favorite season for many people. The weather is cooling down after the dog-days of summer, sweaters and boots re-enter our wardrobe, and pumpkin spice everything is everywhere.
I particularly love fall for many reasons. First off, it is springboard for the holiday season which often brings parties, gatherings, gift-giving and laughter. But I also appreciate fall because it represents change, transition. The fall season presents mi with an opportunity to examine things that have transpired and possibly make some changes in my personal life, my business and this very publication.
I have in fact, done just that. As I finalize my 17th issue and enter my fourth year celebrating everyday women and their extraordinary lives, I can be nothing short of in awe. For I am humbled, blessed and grateful. I am humbled that amazing women regularly open their hearts and share their stories with mi. I am blessed to be able to offer a platform for them to toot their horn, recognize how incredible they truly are and shine their light to the world. I am beyond grateful that I am allowed to do this everyday and amazed at the times that I feel defeated or want to give up only to have my destiny and purpose step in with full force and remind mi that this is what I was born to do.
The fall issue is always special to mi because it represents another year that Focus on Fabulous has been in existence. It serves as a reminder that the rough road was worth the travel and that the message must be delivered.
However, this issue is even more precious. Because, not only does it celebrate my victories and accomplishments of perseverance and determination for the past three years, it also has miraculously produced 16 previous issues, and I get to share those successes with my fellow business sisters as this issue also recognizes The American Business Women’s Association, particularly in my state and local chapter.
Previously, I have featured various ABWA women and you may not have known they were ABWA members. For I even caught their stories, and so I am honoring them again in this issue by submitting their stories as they were in the previous issues’ pages.
The ABWA celebrates 70 years just a few days after I celebrate turning four. I am proud to be a third generation American Business Women’s Association member and honored to grace my pages with the stories and accolades of these incredible ladies. I am confident that as you engulf yourself in these pages and read the stories you will begin to embrace the changes coming in your life as well as be inspired, motivated and encouraged. After all, that’s why we do what we do.
stay fabulous, stay you,
“mi”
