When I first envisioned this column, I imagined it would be a series of thought-provoking snippets (hence the “Bits” part of the title) that would get you thinking (and perhaps discussing) topics that are important to you.
I have kind of strayed from that format (and I may again), but I wanted to return to it this issue.
Sometimes we live a life that isn’t what we envisioned. We need to assess our situation sometimes in order to put things into perspective.
I’ve been asking myself a lot of questions lately, trying to get some direction. I have found it to be a challenging (but very helpful) exercise, and I thought you might, as well.
Here are some questions to ask yourself (when you have a little peace and quiet to thoughtfully ponder and answer them):
- What am I doing that is making me happy?
- What am I doing that is dragging me down?
- What can I change about #2?
- Are there any toxic people in my life? How can I shelter myself from them?
- How can I bring joy to someone? (And who should that be?)
Try to ask these questions each week. (I usually do so on Saturdays, when I have a little free time.)
You’d be surprised at how it can shape your life.
