Change is not always easy. Sometimes change is joyful. A new car or a new job can bring excitement and anticipation. Sometimes change is difficult. Divorce or losing a job can be stressful and painful.

Our way of life has fundamentally changed. No one knows what the “new normal” is going to look like. Jobs and businesses have been affected. Relationships have been tested. There are so many uncertainties that lie ahead.

But there are a few things to remember during this time of global transition and change:

  • All change can bring about good things, even when the changes aren’t easy. Look at your changes and see how you can turn them into a positive.
  • Remember what you are thankful for. Write down 3 things every day that you are thankful for, and keep a journal to look back on.
  • Practice self care. It’s easy to get overwhelmed, but self care helps you remain focused and positive. Get plenty of rest, eat well, drink plenty of water, and take time for small pleasures.

Fall is a time of transition. There is colorful beauty all around you, and that will soon slip into a quiet chill of winter. But this must happen so that everything blooms in the Spring, and every season has its own unique beauty and purpose.

Your life is the same way: a series of transitions and seasons, each having its own beauty and purpose.

Learning how to embrace transition is the secret to a joyful life.
