As I reflect on these past 15 months and the impact that the Pandemic has had on my life, I truly can’t complain. I took the time to pivot and seriously think about what was most important to me as well as how I wanted to show up in the world moving forward. I decided I wanted to be less serious and politically correct. I wanted to laugh, and show up unashamed and naked (not literally), spontaneous, unscripted and authentic. I wanted to take moments just to chat or face time with family and friends. I wanted my speeches and moments to count beyond the actual moments. As I peek back at some of my videos and social media posts, I can say that I’ve done just that, especially with my monthly “Out The Box” Facebook LIVE series. I had no idea how far out the box I would end up going!
Recently I decided to add a new element to my speaking where I will be delving into my sensual side, in the form of a semi-comedic style, “One-Woman Show.” This format will allow me to step out of my motivational speaking box and start having the hard conversations about things that are somewhat taboo. I’ll be sharing interesting stories and humorous moments not only as a breast cancer survivor, but also as a sexy, yet celibate woman, not by choice. As a breast cancer survivor there have been times when I was extremely nervous and concerned about my beauty and whether or not men would still find me sexy and desirable after breast cancer. Also, I was not ready to start the conversation about the look and size of my breast. Maybe there are other breast cancer survivors who have some of the same concerns. Let’s break the ice!
