As the brisk spring breezes fade into sunny summer days, we become acutely aware that in our midst, there is always something to bring us joy.

Yes, life is full of ups and downs, but there are constant reminders for us to celebrate each day, no matter the circumstances. Even on the most challenging days, there are things to be grateful for, accomplishments to acknowledge, and small joys to appreciate, so it’s essential to recognize the good moments and not dwell on the bad. It can be easy to get caught up in negative thoughts and feelings, but focusing on finding positivity and hope can help us through the difficult times.

I encourage you to keep sight of the small joys of your everyday life. Many people find delight in different things, such as spending time with loved ones, pursuing their passions or hobbies, achieving personal goals, helping others, or simply embracing the simpler things life holds, like the laughter of children, the sound of the ocean waves or the warmth surrounding a bonfire. It’s important to take a moment each day to reflect on the things that bring us happiness and joy and to celebrate them.

An unexpected compliment from a friend, loved one (or even yourself), or perhaps getting lost in your favorite book, could provide your heart and soul with the comfort and joy it desires. Celebrating these moments helps keep us grounded when struggling with more significant issues like loss, illness, or financial troubles. Observing the good things can bring a sense of positivity and hope as well as help us stay motivated and focused on moving forward. So, let’s find something to celebrate each day, no matter how small, and use it as a reminder of the wonderful things in life that bring us joy.

A lovely sunset will always prove that every day can end beautifully, so as you’re out on a walk or sitting on your porch, take note of the beauty around you. The sunset is one of life’s most beautiful gifts, and it can help us find joy in everyday moments. Even though things may not seem okay at the present, there will come a time when they fall into place again!

You may even find joy in a job well done. The blissful feeling of completing the day’s tasks, the pleasure of relaxing with a glass of wine, and the satisfaction of living your best life are all reasons to celebrate. These small moments make up our lives–and they’re worth celebrating!

Summer brings magic to the day. It is a time of fun, frolic, and happiness. It prompts us to slow down our life and embrace the warmer weather, and there’s a sense of enjoyment in the air. Summer provides us with time to enjoy the outdoors, have a picnic, play outdoor games, make new friends, and have fun in the sun.

So, when you’re feeling down, try to see the good in your life. It’s there– look for it! Fill your life with great memories. Pictures may disappear from your phone or computer but will always be part of your memory bank.

This summer, I encourage you to find inner peace by practicing mindfulness. Focus on your thoughts and feelings in the present moment. It is an integral part of self-care. When you’re feeling stressed or anxious, take a few minutes to sit quietly and breathe deeply. Focus on what’s going on around you:

  • Notice the sounds around you.
  • Feel your body as it sits or lies down.
  • Look at nearby objects (a painting hanging on the wall, for example)
  • Read an article in Focus on Fabulous magazine to be inspired and encouraged.

If needed, try closing your eyes and picturing something peaceful–maybe the beach or a quiet mountain meadow—take deep breaths while you’re there.

When I was younger, I often looked up at the sky when I needed perspective, peace or comfort. Looking at the clouds sparked my imagination and took mi to places in my mind that were lovely and beautiful.

If you fear being alone this summer, volunteer, stroll with a friend, and share love with others. It can be as simple as saying hello or thanking someone for their service. One of the most powerful ways to give and receive love is through compassion and kindness–by helping others who are less fortunate than us. You make the world a better place. Whatever you do, look around you. Focus on what is lovely. It is then that you become acutely aware there is always something to bring us joy in your midst. I hope you find yours this summer.

stay fabulous, stay you,

“mi”
