Hey there! Just to tell you a little bit about myself, I have always been into fitness since I was 10 years old, where both my mother and Richard Simmons were huge influences. I’ve always enjoyed dancing to music of various genres, making each workout my own. I started my own fitness business, Fitness Slayers!®, in 2017 during a time where I felt people were discouraged to start their personal fitness journey due to the lack of representation in social media and on television. More so, I felt it was important to discuss my personal fitness journey and hiccups that I have experienced along the way to make it more human to others and that I can relate to the people I am helping.
So, you’re probably thinking: What’s Dance N’ Chair?
Well, we have heard of Sit and Be Fit, but I came with this type of class for my business during my own recovery process. At the time I had pulled my back working in the yard, but I dreaded at the idea of having to cancel my Zumba class. I still wanted to exercise! So I wanted to incorporate a Sit and Be Fit style class, but of course have my own unique name. It was also important too to consider a special population who may want to exercise but cannot do the conventional Zumba class. So, to play on the words “Dancing Chair”, I created Dance N’ Chair. I did a test run and it was popular with those who have limited mobility, so I made a point to keep that as part of my business.
So here’s a beginner Dance N’ Chair routine!
Because I like to do classic fun dances, I want to dedicate this Dance N’ Chair routine to a couple dances of the 90s!
Cabbage Patch
One of my favorite dance moves where you simply make an outward circle with your arms! It’s a dance that can go with anything! Make a circle with your arms and just have a good time by moving side to side!
The Bart Simpson
This dance move came from the classic cartoon “The Simpsons” where it described how Bart Simpson rode his skateboard. This is a side-to-side move with your arms, but you can get into groove with your upper body as well!
Have a great time getting down to the moves of the 90s! Looking forward to dancing with you guys more!
