Although not born in Charleston, South Carolina, Tracy has lived here over 25 years which makes her consider herself a Carolina girl. Growing up as a Navy child she spent several years in Scotland, Virginia and Florida before settling in this area. She graduated in 1998 from Fort Dorchester High School and immediately started what would become my career in retail and spent almost 20 years with Walmart working in every super center in the Tri county and Beaufort areas.

She started her retail career as a cashier in the Walmart pharmacy and within five years moved into management roles including assistant Store manager, Vision Center Manager and ultimately store co-manager. Tracy has always enjoyed helping people and her experiences at Walmart allowed her the opportunities to provide the best quality service and product to the public, as well as assist people in moving to the next level in their career. Tracy gained great gratification and fulfillment with small things in her career such as simply watching an associate start their careers with folding clothing or running a register and advance to running departments and growing into salaried members of the management team, watching fellow employees go from a job that began as pocket money to advanced careers that would financially care for their families made Tracy proud to witness and experience such life transforming impacts within the company.

Although retail was Tracy’s passion for many years, eventually the long hours took valuable time away from her family and being a single mother

of 3 small children at the time, living in Beaufort with little support, she decided to make a career change. Without a real, set out plan, Tracy resigned her position, began preparations to relocate to Charleston and took some well needed time to soul search and hopefully discover her new path.

It was in that planning stage and move that she connected with a real estate agent about rentals and during a conversation he recommended she research the possibility of becoming licensed Realtor herself. Tracy had never purchased a home and no idea of the processes involved but took her love for helping others, as well as a leap of faith, followed the protocols and procedures and in 2016 received her Realtor license. Tracy says “the journey has been amazing! My boys are now 10 & 11 and my daughter 17 so they don’t need me quite as much, but I love that I no longer miss school functions, holidays or family dinners.”

After attending real estate school classes, Tracy quickly discovered she had not been taught about how to sell or show homes but more about laws, rules and regulations. Now a licensed Realtor, Tracy was on her own with a license that allowed her to help people make the biggest purchase of their life or sell their largest asset and she had no clue how to do that.

Fortunately, Tracy chose Agent Owned Real Estate in the Goose Creek area to begin her new journey and received additional training, resources and guidance to set her on the path to success. She discovered that being a Realtor was not much different than what she did in retail. She was simply playing on a different field. In fact, Tracy asked a seasoned colleague the secret to real estate success, “she told me, ‘lunches, coffee’s and note cards.’ I took that and ran with it.”

Her new venture started slowly, but tenaciously, Tracy reached out to friends, family and anyone she felt she could help. Once she began her real estate career full time, Tracy quickly came to the realization that many people were wasting money on rent simply because they felt they could not afford to buy. It was the same reason she had never bought.

She consistently met with as many people as she could and by doing so, learned about various programs available and discovered numerous ways to help people by matching them up with the correct ones. Rea l Estate provides Tracy the opportunity to reconnect with people as well as meet new ones. What sets her apart from other Realtors is empathy/ Tracy has walked the walk. She’s been the struggling single mother wanting a home for her children but renting because that’s the only option she thought was available or she could afford. Since starting her real estate career, Tracy has discovered every deal is as different as the individual homeowner and there is usually something crazy that will occur. Tracy prides herself in assisting home buyers not only get through the grueling process of purchasing but shares in the joys and excitement of home ownership and especially enjoys working with first time home buyers.

Tracy says that her time managing people in retail along with her ability to solve problems has helped her defuse complications and keep situations calm thus making the process less stressful. She has participated in selling everything from large family homes to mobile homes and has recently helped a 19-year-old purchase her very first home. Tracy also helps with new construction property management, placing people in rentals, and helping with credit repair, with the common goal of ultimately leading to home ownership.

Tracy has truly found her calling and her passion shows when you spend time with her. She says, “My job is so rewarding, to get to help first time buyers through the process of becoming homeowners or helping a growing family move into larger home to meet their needs, is so fulfilling. I am happy when I see their excitement. There is nothing too big, too small, or too complicated. I will help anyone I can, any way I can.”
