We often can focus and gravitate closer to what’s behind us because it’s common and familiar. What I have often discovered is that in order to be fully in a position to receive abundance and peace, we have to make room for it to enter into our lives. As the seasons have changed and we are embarking on The Winter Season we are going to encircle around the word and topic of de-cluttering. The word De-clutter means to remove things you do not need from a place, in order to make it more pleasant and more useful. A few synonyms to the word de-clutter are clean house, uncontaminated, cleanse, healthy, or prepare etc. I believe this word is so pivotal as we are entering a New Year and season.
In my home as each season arrives and exits my family and I go through our closets and sort through what we’ve outgrown or no longer have use for. This makes space for the new that we desire. Can I be honest, my Husband Patrick is the King of Organization, me not so much. I’m the wife that buys and collects in contrast to the order that he brings to our home life and marriage. I can remember one day the both of us was listening to a podcast about the topic de-cluttering and the podcaster said something profound. He said, “The condition or state of our closets can directly correlate with the state of our minds and personal lives.”
There will be times in our lives where things may be out of alignment but as we grow in self-awareness, we can get back on track. My question to you is what is the state of your closet? That could be in your home or internally. What areas in your life do you need to let go of and clean house to receive what benefits you in this New Season? Many times, our clutter can be negative relationships, bad habits, self-sabotaging, comparison, fear of letting go etc. I want you to take some quiet time during the Holidays and journal 3 Key Areas for you to improve and build upon. Write us and share the progress you’ve made toward a clean slate as you prepare for all God has for you. Where you are headed in purpose and destiny, it’s simply too heavy to carry any baggage with you.
I want to encourage you today, no matter the state of your closet, there is always room to grow and improve. When we reflect on where we currently are from within, that reflection can pull us in two directions. You could be provoked to change overtime for your benefit or succumb to the same vicious cycles while remaining the same. With each day together, lets choose to take one day at a time, putting one foot in front of the other. Let us embark into a new day and year. I believe in the power of resiliency in You!
