Change, Transition, and Growth
You are not the same person you were ten years ago. Your circumstances and life events shape you, mold you. How they shape and mold you is a choice. Your choice.
There are some people who have every advantage, and yet they don’t succeed. Others have to struggle for everything they have, but they thrive.
You can choose right now to thrive, no matter what happens. You will have setbacks—everyone does—but you make the conscious decision to keep moving forward and to succeed.
Let’s talk about Change, Transition, and Growth.
Change: to make or become different
Not all change is good, but for our purposes let’s assume we’re only talking about good changes. Using positive change would be something like choosing to replace a bad/unhealthy habit with a good/healthy one. Or choosing to not argue with a quarrelsome relative at Thanksgiving like you do every year.
These are small changes. Each change is an individual choice. It’s an ongoing process, and if you make enough small changes, they add up.
Transition: the process of changing from one state or condition to another
As you continue to make changes, you’ll gradually begin to transition from A to B. For example, if you replace unhealthy habits with healthy ones, you transition from having to think about each choice to having it become a natural choice. Or, in the quarrelling relative example above, you choose not to argue enough times that you begin to wonder why you ever argued to begin with.
Growth: the process of increasing in amount, value, or importance; the process of developing or maturing physically, mentally, or spiritually
After enough change and transition, growth occurs.
Developing or maturing is a big part of that, but notice how you also increase in “amount, value, and importance.”
I don’t see that as something that other people recognize and validate. I view this as something you recognize and validate. You discover your own value. You realize what an incredible treasure you are.
I hope you begin your journey today.
Make Changes. Transition. Grow.
