What do you think was the first thing I saw when I looked up the news today using Google? As usual, it certainly wasn’t positive or uplifting. It was the generally daily negative news that is reported much more than necessary. I haven’t worked as much this past year and I’m certain that because I have more time on my hands to pay attention to the news, I’ve done so more often. Since I’ve been paying more attention, I’ve simply seen more negativity and gossip than I would ever wish to. I’m 54 and have experienced a shift in my life. I’ve grown much more interested in letting things go, learning how to experience calm and kindness, and simply take advantage of seeing more goodness around me. Bad news is tiring and in many circumstances divides us as human beings when we disagree, or when we cannot tolerate and accept others’ opinions. My children are moving forward with their own lives in this world, and now my grandchildren will be growing up and experiencing all that is around them. I want them to see more good! Is that too much for this cool Mom and Nanna to desire? I think not.

How interesting it would be if there were nothing but good news… if we woke up and were rewarded with joy for good deeds performed, successes realized, and world peace; and were overjoyed that disease was wiped out (maybe I’m asking for too much with this one?). Well, we may not ever get to that point, but I DID find some wonderful resources for you…

you guessed it…Good News! www.goodnewsnetwork.org and www.sunnyskyz.com are two websites DEDICATED to good news around the globe!

We as a society need to throw away some negativity that lingers in our brains and freshen up our minds. Girls, I am ready for more of the ‘lighter side’ of what life offers. Why not join me in finding and sharing one story each week about the good humans shower upon this world? Even better, an on-the-spot smile and show of kindness to others is an even greater act that will allow you to feel the love! Observe and recognize others who perform random acts of kindness; celebrate accomplishments being reached by others with them, and be a shining example of how to enjoy life on this planet in a most humble manner. So, if you ever meet me and I ask you to “Tell Me Something Good”, I’ll be expecting you to refresh my soul with a beautiful story!
