Hey, You! I have just the stuff to get you into the summertime vibe! We welcomed the spring rain here in South Texas and our trees and wildflowers made out! But the humid summer heat is on its way! I NEVER look for-ward to that, but the weather rarely keeps me inside. When it’s cold, should you stay in?  Nope, you bundle up, get out, and enjoy the season. So, when it’s Hotter than Hell (as sung by my favorite rock group KISS), you can wear a hat, put sunscreen on, and head outside with a bottle of water!

I just turned sixty.  This milestone has led me to read even MORE about aging healthfully, and I soon discovered that I’ve over-stuffed my brain!  I am shifting my way of eating and moving a bit as I journey into this new phase of life. As I looked in the mirror the other day, I realized that after losing 30lbs, I’m still pouting about the flab on my upper arms, the increasing number of lines on my face, the ‘crepey’ appearance on my legs. And since I’m a people watcher, I started to really observe others; how they were moving, dressing, engaging in public, how they were eating. I had this ‘revelation’:  I am just SO unique (as we all are)!

Our current states of mind and body shine through in our character, personality, personal hygiene, and body composition (not just in weight, but shape). They all contribute to our outward physical appearances, and the uniqueness is nothing short of beautiful.  So, it hit me: STOP WHINING, ALESA! I decided to embrace the beautiful, functional, capable body that is mine. This ‘light bulb’ moment came just as I was thinking about finding a new swimsuit for the summer water aerobics class! Now you know: You’re a uniquely beautiful, badass human being!

Here are a few favorite YouTube workouts (I love how they instruct):

  • FIT With Stacy – Aqua Aerobic Fitness 35 min Workout Intervals – Toning – No Equipment
  • Kat Gates-Buettner – Walk the Weight Off with 3800 Steps, 70s and 80s
  • Growingannanas – 25 min Strong Yoga… Mellow music made this a bit ‘meditative’.
