There’s a saying that you are “never too old to start something new.” It’s true! Here are some hobbies and activities that you can start at any age:
Cooking – find a new cookbook and try new recipes.
Sewing – create new curtains, make play clothes for the grandkids, create a new dress for yourself.
Knitting/Crochet – make gifts or items to donate to homeless shelters or to hospitals.
Photography – there’s so much beauty and interesting things in the world. Capture some of it!
Painting/Drawing – there are dozens of classes available – check your local community college or community centers.
Piano/guitar lessons – you can start to play at any age – every town has teachers looking for new students.
Line dancing – there are usually free lessons every week.
Walking – you can do it anywhere – go to a local mall, park, trail, or even just walk around your hometown.
Volunteering – pick a cause and get involved – not only will you be doing good, you’ll feel great helping others.
Writing – buy a notebook and get started. Write down stories from your life, write poetry, write fiction stories. Just do it.
Gardening – there is great satisfaction in seeing plants thrive.
Singing – you can improve your tone at any age. And anyway, who needs lessons? Just sing. It does your body and soul good.
Crossword Puzzles / Sudoku – keep your mind sharp with puzzles.
Genealogy – get to know where you came from.
Water Aerobics – a great work-out that’s easy on the joints and lots of fun.
Cake decorating – it takes practice, but even if you mess up, it’s still delicious.
Baking – bake for yourself, or your church bake sale, or share with your neighbors.
Bird watching – birds are fascinating creatures. You can watch from your kitchen window, a park bench, or go on an
adventure into the forest.
Yoga/Tai Chi – gentle stretching, improve your balance, relax your mind.
Beer-making – buy a starter kit and give it a try.
Canning/preserving fruits and vegetables – canning is becoming a lost art. Gather some friends together and make it a party.
Candle or soap making – pick up a starter kit at your local hobby store and give it a try. It’s easy and fun.
Travel – go places you’ve never been. Even day trips to the town up the road can be an adventure.
Camping – there can be something magical about spending a night outdoors. The smells, the sounds, and food – it’s all an experience.
