NBA star Kevin Willis knows something about peak performance. He is in the top twenty of numerous career stats, including lifetime points and rebounds. He now has several thriving businesses and is a sought-after business consultant and speaker.
He has identified seven keys that helped him be successful in his career and his life.
- Willpower. Know what your final goal and desired outcome is and resist temptations to get sidetracked or distracted. Keep your focus where it needs to be.
- Discipline. Do what it takes, as long as it takes. Practice, practice, practice, even when you don’t feel like it or you think you’ve got it.
- Study. Be a student of your industry. Never stop learning.
- Health. Take care of your body and mind. Exercise, diet, hydration, mindset, sleep, habits. Make sure you are aware of the effects on your performance that your lifestyle can have.
- Relationships. Nurture relationships. Create deep bonds with others. Find out what is important to others and honor those desires. Do not take others for granted.
- Network. Meet new people. Put yourself in new situations. Get out of your comfort zone. Never miss an opportunity to expand your circle of influence.
- Service. Have a heart to help others. Find ways to give back. Even small gestures can have big results.
