Your Story Is Important
For centuries, women have been told to be quiet, to not be too loud, to not be too bossy and to be “ladylike.” Women have been told that men are the ones who should be seen and heard.
Thankfully, that is changing. Perhaps more slowly than I would like, but it’s changing.
Women are sharing their stories, and those stories are changing the world. The amazing thing that happens when one woman shares her story? Other women become empowered and bolder, and they share their stories too.
Women are natural storytellers. We tell bedtime stories to our children. We share stories of our childhood to teach lessons and to comfort after a loss. We share stories to encourage and inspire our friends and family. And now we are starting to share our stories with the nation and the world in order to shed light on what has been hidden for years.
And by doing so, we are changing the course of history.
You have stories that should be shared. You have stories that could inspire, empower and/or comfort hundreds (or thousands) of others. Here are some steps you can take to share your story with the world:
Journal: You can choose to keep a journal of pen and paper or a digital method, but write down your stories. Jot down thoughts, dreams and plans.
Blog: You can use a free option (Blogspot or WordPress), or you can choose a paid option with your own domain. Either way, you can share your story.
Social Media: Once you have your story on your own VRE (Virtual Real Estate), share links on your social media. Having your own blog/website means you have all of your content under your control.
You can find other outlets for your stories too, but this is a great way to start.
Write your story.
Share your story.
Change lives.
